  celebrating the death of Jesus

  am i the only one bothered by the way the jw's refer to the memorial as a celebration of the death of jesus?.

  i understand that jesus said to keep the tradition of the last meal, but should it be referred to as a celebration?

  this should be a solemn occasion and not one we would look forward to celebrating.

  Favorite food at Assemblies

  i hated growing up as a witness.

  i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.

  i would wander around and find other kids to goof around with.

  Vess dubbed themselves the 'Billion bubble beverage' and they bragged that their soda had 'No cholesterol'.

  i was looking at a magazine while waiting for my son to come out from seeing his doctor a couple of weeks ago, and it had an article in it about dick cheney.

  (i think it was a magazine named architecture.

  ) it showed pictures of the home cheney is favored with living in during his tenure as vice president of the united states.

  I only recently realized your name is actually BECK_Melbourne!
  I am not saying that I know why Farkel called you that name.
  I am just telling you what I thought was your name.

  about three weeks ago i told a friend about the un thing, no-one else, i had known for months but didn't tell her till she brought up a similar subject.

  i gave her a printout from a guardian article, i have only had a short terse text message since.

  i know she has a lot more to lose than i did, and i stopped going to meetings last year.

  France fines Watchtower Millions

  the other day my spouse heard a report on npr about the french government fining the watchtower millions of us dollars (40 million?

  ) for the so-called contributions they squeeze out of people.

  did anyone reading this hear that report?

  JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TOLD TO PAY TAXES

  VERSAILLES -- The Jehovah's Witnesses organization in France must pay taxes on donations its members gathered in the street between 1993 and 1996, an appeals court decided Wednesday, in a ruling expected to cost the group over 45 million euros, or $39 million.

  The verdict, which upholds a lower court's judgment, requires the group to pay 23 million euros in taxes on the 38 million euros it collected over that period, plus another 22.4 million euros in penalties and interest. The judges ruled that the Jehovah's Witnesses, who are classified as a sect and not a religion in France, are not eligible for tax exemption.
